Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 – Report for 2014-2015 of the Appointed Person for Northern Ireland

21 August 2015

The Report for 2014-15 of the Appointed Person for Northern Ireland under section 291 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) was laid before the Northern Ireland Assembly on 21 August 2015 by the Department of Justice pursuant to section 291(5) of POCA.  The Appointed Person for Northern Ireland scrutinises the use of certain POCA powers to search for cash that can be exercised without prior judicial approval.  There was one report of the use of the powers in 2014-15.  The powers are a valuable tool in the fight against crime and, going forward, their use will be closely monitored by the Appointed Person for Northern Ireland.
