The Police Service has set up a telephone helpline for members of the public who are, or may be, the victims of extortion.
Police want to provide victims with an initial easy point of contact where advice and assistance are available.
The helpline will be staffed by officers from the PSNI Extortion Unit Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. If staff are not available, an answering service will operate.
If it is an urgent enquiry, callers should contact their local police or, if it is an emergency, they should dial 999.

Crimestoppers is a national charity which assists the Police to solve crimes. It provides a UK wide freephone telephone number which the public can call to speak to a police officer totally anonymously. This guarantees the security of the caller and enables them to pass on information about crimes or criminal activity without becoming involved in any way. A cash reward is available for information which leads to the arrest and charge of an individual and this too, can be paid out totally anonymously.
