£50,000 worth of counterfeit goods seized

In a joint operation between the PSNIs Intellectual Property Crime Unit, Newry and Mourne CID, the Federation against Copyright Theft and the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) two properties in the Kilkeel and Ballymartin Village areas were searched on Friday, 4 April.

During the searches police seized an estimated £50,000 worth of counterfeit goods including DVDs, CDs, clothing, and other paraphernalia of use to counterfeiters.

Two people a man aged 34 and a woman aged 22 were arrested by police and have since been released on bail pending further enquiries
