Thousands of litres of fuel seized in customs search

23 June 2009

Thousands of litres of fuel have been seized after a filling station and a 'huckster' site in the north west were raided.

Fuel pumps and storage containers at a filling station in Ballymoney were seized along with 3,400 litres of contaminated diesel and 1200 litres of petrol when Customs officers swooped yesterday.

A business unit in an industrial estate in the Dungiven area also yielded 900 litres of diesel, stored in domestic heating tanks.

At both sites the forecourt pumps were removed to prevent further illicit fuel sales
